REEF<\/span><\/a> expanded its Fanning franchise on<\/span> April 9, 2026<\/span><\/a>, with four new styles, marking 21 years of the sandal that built the brand’s identity around a built in bottle opener. The new models bring the total Fanning lineup to six core styles, available now at<\/span> reef.com<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

21 Years of the Fanning<\/b><\/h3>\n

The Fanning launched in 2005 in collaboration with three time world surfing champion Mick Fanning, and became a category icon through a combination of performance driven comfort and a signature feature: a bottle opener molded into the rubber outsole.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The sandal’s 21st year gives it a birthday that REEF is leaning into directly, with a new campaign titled “The Fanning Turns 21” featuring surfers Billy Kemper, Makoa Ho, Mason Ho, and Noah Beschen, developed in partnership with creative agency Party Land. Three campaign films, Idea Guy, Is This It?, and Lost Tourist, are available on REEF’s YouTube channel.<\/span><\/p>\n
