Billabong and Connecticut based eyewear manufacturer L’Amy America announced a new licensing partnership on April 15, 2026, under which L’Amy will design, manufacture, and distribute a full Billabong eyewear range in the U.S. and Canada. The first collection, spanning optical frames, fashion sunglasses, eyewear accessories, snow goggles, and motorsport goggles for men, women, and kids, is slated to launch later in 2026.
The Collection
The Billabong eyewear range will draw directly from the brand’s “Know the Feeling” ethos, channeling its 53 year connection to surf culture, freedom of movement, and outdoor living across performance and lifestyle categories.
Brett Glauser, VP of Brand, Action and Outdoor Sports at Authentic, said, “Their expertise in eyewear design and global distribution makes them the ideal partner to bring Billabong’s spirit of adventure to the category.”
L’Amy’s Role
L’Amy America is an established eyewear licensing specialist with a current brand portfolio that includes Ann Taylor, Ben Sherman, Champion, Nicole Miller, Lancel, and Charriol. The Billabong partnership extends an existing relationship between L’Amy and Authentic, the two already collaborate on Champion branded eyewear.
Stephen Rappoport, CEO of L’Amy America, said, “Billabong will be a true complement to our brand portfolio.”
Category Expansion
The eyewear move is part of Authentic’s broader strategy of extending its owned brands into adjacent categories through specialist licensing partnerships, a model that allows the company to grow revenue per brand without taking on manufacturing risk. Billabong currently operates in more than 100 countries across apparel and accessories; the addition of eyewear adds a high margin, year round category that aligns naturally with the brand’s outdoor and water sports positioning.
