Crocs announced on November 4 that its Classic Clog has earned Cradle to Cradle Certified Circularity Gold under version 5.0 of the standard. The Bae Clog and Keep It Going Classic Clog have also received the certification.
The assessment covers circular sourcing, product design and systems for takeback and recovery. The institute’s registry lists the three styles under certification number 12449, valid until June 25, 2029.
Crocs reports average recycled-material figures of 29% for the Classic Clog, 36% for the Bae Clog and 42% for the Keep It Going Classic Clog. Those figures use mass balance accounting, which allocates recycled inputs across a product group rather than measuring the content of every individual shoe.
The company says approximately 31% of its shoes globally now carry Circularity Gold certification. Its Old Crocs. New Life. takeback programme operates in 345 stores across 10 countries on three continents.
