OTW by Vans and Toronto based retailer HAVEN released the Authentic 44 Vibram on March 20, reframing the classic silhouette around material precision, long term relevance, and the functionalist design philosophy of Dieter Rams. The drop landed exclusively through HAVEN in two colorways: Black and White.
Design Rooted in Restraint
The monochrome upper pairs velvety nubuck with textured suede, using material contrast rather than color to create visual depth. Branding is kept deliberately subtle, keeping focus on craftsmanship and materiality, a shared value between HAVEN’s design ethos and OTW by Vans’ premium positioning. The perforated tongue and leather lining round out the interior build.
Vibram Where it Counts
The Vibram outsole is the functional centerpiece, adding durability and grip without altering the Authentic 44’s familiar silhouette. The overall construction draws on the studied clarity of design historian Peter Kapos, alongside Rams’ functionalist legacy, objects built to be precise and built to last.
The NYC Moment
HAVEN marked the release with a New York City pop up and an intimate panel hosted by Geoff Snack, featuring Benjamin Edgar, Jared Blake, and HAVEN Creative Director Arthur Chmielewski in discussion around collaborative design and shared perspectives on how product should age and perform over time. The HAVEN x OTW by Vans Authentic 44 Vibram is available exclusively through HAVEN.
