Hoka, Strive Footwear, Merrell: Podiatrist-approved shoes

With countless options on the market, it can be overwhelming to choose footwear that supports not just your feet but your overall well-being. To shed light on this topic, we caught up with Dr. Maggie Trevillion, a multi-award winning podiatrist and founder of Callen Olive.

Dr. Trevillion's journey into podiatry was fueled by an innate passion for foot care, which she discovered while working as a beauty therapist in top London salons. It was during this time that she realized her love for feet, prompting her to pursue further studies in podiatry.

The inception of Callen Olive was inspired by Dr. Trevillion's observation of the lack of high-quality, sustainable, and effective foot care products in the market. Determined to fill this gap, she leveraged her medical podiatry expertise, extensive scientific research, and the finest naturally-derived ingredients to create a range of products designed to address leg and foot-related conditions.

In this exclusive interview, Dr. Trevillion divulges her top three walking shoe brands that promise to provide comfort, relief and offers invaluable advice on how to keep your feet in pristine condition. This conversation is a must-read for anyone looking to step up their walking game while ensuring their feet remain beautiful and healthy.

What should women who work on their feet all day implement into their skincare routine for beautiful feet?

For women who spend long hours on their feet, taking care of your feet is essential to maintain their health and appearance, which is why we have a full range of luxury leg and foot skincare available at Callen Olive.

  1. Start by washing your feet daily with a gentle soap and lukewarm water to remove dirt and bacteria. Pay extra attention to the spaces between your toes, where moisture can accumulate and lead to fungal infections.
  2. Incorporate regular exfoliation into your routine to remove dead skin cells and keep your feet smooth. Use a foot scrub or a foot file when the skin is dry (prior to bathing) to gently exfoliate rough areas, focusing on the heels and balls of your feet.
  3. Apply a nourishing foot cream or lotion daily to keep your feet hydrated and prevent dryness and cracking.
  4. Look for products containing ingredients like shea nut butter, avocado oil, or hyaluronic acid to lock in moisture and keep your skin feeling soft, supple and radiant.
  5. Trim your toenails properly, cutting them to the shape of your toenail and not too short. Use a nail file to smooth the edges and keep them at a moderate length.
  6. Moisturize your cuticles with cuticle oil to keep them healthy and prevent dryness.
  7. If you paint your toenails always use a base coat this will prevent discolouration and from the toenail drying out. Also ensure you do not leave it on no longer than four weeks, remove it and give the toenails a breathe and chance to recover, priro to the next application.
  8. Treat your feet to a relaxing foot soak once a week to soothe tired muscles and improve circulation. You can use warm water with Epsom salts or add essential oils like lavender or peppermint for added relaxation and benefits.
  9. Don't forget to apply sunscreen to your feet, especially if they're exposed to the sun. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher to protect against sunburn and premature aging.

And remember healthy feet, healthy body, healthy mind.
