Salomon and BEAMS are bringing ski-boot buckle detailing to the XT-QUEST as the centrepiece of a seven-piece collaboration marking BEAMS’ 50th anniversary. The November 2 announcement sets a November 6 advance launch at BEAMS Harajuku, followed by participating BEAMS stores and its online shop on November 7.
The black XT-QUEST BEAMS combines waterproof GORE-TEX and ripstop with Salomon’s Contagrip outsole, Advanced Chassis and SensiFit construction. The buckle detail makes the collection’s alpine reference visible across the upper. BEAMS lists the footwear at ¥42,240, including Japanese tax.
The Hybridisation theme links Salomon’s Alpine heritage with BEAMS’ Tokyo perspective. The accompanying assortment includes a nylon jacket and trousers, T-shirt, cap, packable tote and bandanna. A backpack-style zipped pouch on the jacket extends the idea of outdoor equipment becoming a clothing detail.
Salomon’s Japanese and global directly operated stores begin their rollout on November 12. A BEAMS anniversary feature also follows the collaboration’s development and the buyers’ visit to Salomon in Annecy.
