Salomon Para-Team athletes Aurélien Guého and Julien Veysseyre reached the finish of Réunion Island’s 74-kilometre Mascareignes together, after climbing 3,800 metres across the mountain course. Both ran with trail prostheses co-developed by Salomon and Hopper.

The pair crossed side by side with their guides, Mathis Bodin and Baptiste Veysseyre. In its race post, Salomon described the course as the longest and most technical race of Guého’s journey so far; for Veysseyre, it was his first race since UTMB.

The race puts a co-developed piece of adaptive equipment in a demanding trail setting. Salomon’s Adaptive Project began with Jérôme Bernard, a triple amputee, and engineering students who went on to found Hopper. Together they set out to develop a running blade for trail use, with solutions shaped around the requirements of each sport.

The finish also reflects the wider support around adaptive performance: two athletes, two guides and a product developed across lived experience, engineering and sport. Salomon’s Para-Team now spans trail and road running, skiing and snowboarding, while its work with Hopper continues across sport-specific prostheses.
