VEJA and Bologna based label Magliano have reworked the Panenka sneaker for spring. They turned the French brand’s football-inspired silhouette into a unisex collab that sits between vintage sport and contemporary tailoring. The collection landed in VEJA stores in Paris, New York, and Madrid. In addition, it went live on VEJA’s online shop on March 9.
A Boot Inspired Rework
The Panenka’s most visible update is a folded tongue made from a single perforated piece, a direct reference to classic football cleats. It also enables asymmetric lacing. Three pairs of contrast laces ship in the box. This allows wearers to layer chromatic combinations in line with Magliano’s visual language. For this collab, VEJA steps back and gives the Magliano logo front billing. This is a gesture the brand frames as identity recognition rather than co branding.
Three Colorways
The Panenka x Magliano comes in black with cream accents, white with black contrasts, and a pearlescent pink. Materials include leather, recycled polyester, organic cotton, bio based EVA, and Amazonian rubber. This is consistent with VEJA’s production standards.
Who is Magliano
Magliano was founded in Bologna in 2017 by Luca Magliano and has built its identity around the concept of the Italian ‘province,’ peripheral landscapes, vernacular culture, and a menswear vocabulary that subverts traditional codes. The brand earned international recognition through the LVMH Prize.
