adidas is using its fifth China International Import Expo appearance to bring its Innovation Lab to the Shanghai event for the first time. The showcase connects athlete insights with product work in speed, cooling and power, alongside collections developed for Chinese consumers.
In a November 6 company update, adidas says it now has nearly 200 designers and creative specialists in Shanghai, with local teams able to make independent product-design and development decisions. The exhibition includes work for Chinese national teams, the Jiangsu Football City League, China Track Top and PREMIUM LUX, as well as university-community sportswear.
Chief Creative Officer Alasdhair Willis joined the event, connecting the local showcase with the brand’s global creative direction. adidas also highlighted its work with the China Children and Teenagers’ Fund to widen access to sport, particularly for girls.
The presentation brings product innovation, local creative capacity and participation programmes into one setting, showing the different parts of adidas’ China operation alongside the finished collections.
