ASICS is updating its long-running cushioned trainer with the GEL-NIMBUS 29, scheduled to arrive globally on December 1 at $170. The October 29 announcement introduces FF LUXE PLUS foam and a reshaped sole as the main changes to the running franchise.
The new foam is paired with a wave pattern underneath the sole, which ASICS says allows greater compression. PureGEL remains positioned beneath the heel, while the HYBRID ASICSGRIP outsole gets more rubber coverage than the previous model.
An engineered mesh upper, knitted tongue, ribbed collar and pull tab complete the construction. ASICS lists approximate weights of 279 grams for the men’s shoe and 238 grams for the women’s version.
The visual direction follows a Soaring Cloud concept, with a sculpted midsole and color accents drawing on clouds and classical Japanese painting. It gives the cushioning story a recognizable design language as ASICS prepares the next generation of a familiar running model.
