ASICS launched the GEL-SLOWCUSH in Japan on October 8, adding a cushioned road-running model designed for everyday miles and easier recovery runs. The company lists a Japanese retail price of ¥26,400 in its October product announcement.

The midsole combines FF LUXE PLUS foam with PureGEL PLUS, which ASICS says is about 20% lighter than its previous PureGEL cushioning. A HYBRID ASICSGRIP outsole pairs ASICSGRIP with AHARPLUS rubber; the company says the latter offers roughly three times the wear resistance of its previous rubber.

GEL-SLOWCUSH extends running footwear’s recovery and comfort conversation beyond race-day performance. Its product brief is built around softer landings and relaxed daily mileage, a distinct use case in a category where speed and race technology often lead the story.

That positioning reflects how running brands are giving easy days a more explicit place in the footwear lineup: recovery is framed as part of the training cycle, with cushioning and underfoot feel carrying the product story.
