Decathlon will open its first Cork store at Douglas Village Shopping Centre on Friday, October 16, at 1 p.m. The location, with more than 2,300 square metres, will be the retailer’s fourth in Ireland and its first in Cork, operating inside Tesco at Douglas. Decathlon confirmed the opening time in a company post, following its earlier announcement of the Tesco partnership.
The store is set to carry products across running, hiking, fitness, swimming, cycling and team sports, with dedicated ranges for padel and rugby. Decathlon also lists Click & Collect and its Buyback program among the services planned for Cork, connecting in-store shopping with its wider online assortment. The company’s March announcement outlined the store format and service plans.
The opening brings specialist sports equipment into the Tesco Douglas shopping destination, placing Decathlon alongside a routine grocery trip. The move extends the retailer’s Irish store network into Munster while giving local customers a physical location for products across multiple sports.
