Genon says its AI inspection technology has passed production validation for Nike footwear and helped it secure further manufacturing-automation work in Indonesia. The South Korean company announced the developments on October 21.

In its own press release, Genon reports defect-detection rates of 99.7% and 99.2% across two footwear styles. Those figures and the description of Nike validation are company claims; no independent Nike confirmation is supplied with the announcement.

Genon plans to begin developing a production model before year-end, followed by deployment from 2027 and a phased expansion across products and manufacturing lines. It also reports a shoe-upper inspection project covering stitching and bonding defects, alongside a separate robotics project for repetitive outsole-pressing work.

The announcement moves the story beyond a technology demonstration toward planned factory deployment. Genon has not disclosed contract values or identified the customers behind the additional projects. Its Indonesian subsidiary, established earlier this year, is targeting profitability in its first year.
