Reebok announced on April 16, 2026, that Lauren Betts has joined the Reebok Basketball family, making the Washington Mystics center the fifth WNBA player to sign a footwear deal with the brand. Betts was selected as the No. 4 overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft by the Washington Mystics on April 13, days after winning a national championship with UCLA.
Who Is Lauren Betts
Betts is a 6’7″ center and a two time All American who passed up the 2025 WNBA Draft to return to UCLA for her final season, a decision that paid off with a national title and a significantly elevated draft position. She is often compared to Brittney Griner for her combination of size, scoring efficiency, post passing, and rim protection, with mobility and perimeter switching ability that scouts noted had improved significantly in her final collegiate season. Betts herself described the WNBA Draft as “the Met Gala of women’s basketball.”
Reebok’s WNBA Roster
The Betts signing builds on Reebok’s growing investment in women’s basketball. The brand’s current WNBA roster includes Angel Reese, who launched her own signature shoe, the Angel Reese 1, in September 2025, as well as DiJonai Carrington and Lexie Brown. Betts becomes the fifth WNBA player on the Reebok roster, joining a program that has accelerated significantly since Reese’s 2024 signing triggered broad commercial interest in the brand’s women’s basketball positioning.
What Comes Next
Reebok has not confirmed a launch date for a Betts signature shoe, but the precedent set by Angel Reese’s trajectory from signing to debut shoe in roughly 18 months signals the likely direction. Betts is due at Washington Mystics training camp on April 19, where she will be joined by UCLA teammate Angela Dugalic, who was selected No. 9 by the Mystics in the same draft.
