New Balance has won a supply contract to provide the United States Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps with its Made in USA 0430 athletic shoe, according to the company. The agreement starts in early 2027 through the Defense Logistics Agency, putting a purpose built training model into one of the industry’s most demanding institutional channels.

The 0430 will be produced at New Balance’s Central Maine factory in Skowhegan. The name refers to the early morning wake up time familiar to basic training recruits, giving the shoe a direct link to the routine it is intended to support.

New Balance says its Made in USA footwear carries at least 70% domestic value. That standard makes the contract about more than a uniform issue. It places a domestic factory network at the center of a major performance footwear order.

Production becomes the story

Military supply contracts are not fashion launches, but they reveal how sportswear production can travel beyond retail shelves. For New Balance, the work connects its manufacturing identity to a large scale training use case where durability, fit and repeatability matter every day.

The industry has spent years talking about local production, but large orders are what test whether those capabilities can operate at a meaningful level. New Balance owns five athletic footwear factories in New England, a footprint that gives the brand a position few global athletic companies can match.
