PUMA is taking its running technology beyond competition rules with the FAST-RB NITRO Elite 2, a €350 shoe scheduled to launch October 28, 2026. The company announced the model on October 23, positioning it as a platform for experimenting with footwear design rather than a race-approved option.

The distinction matters for runners considering it for organized competition: PUMA explicitly says the shoe is not race legal. Its performance claims also come from the company’s internal studies, rather than independently verified testing presented in the announcement.

The design combines NITROFOAM Elite cushioning with two fused carbon-fiber PWRPLATES, creating a springboard-like structure. A reworked ULTRAWEAVE upper and PUMAGRIP outsole complete the model. PUMA lists an 8 mm drop and weights of 250 grams for a UK size 8 and 206 grams for a UK size 4.5.

For PUMA, the release adds an experimental proposition alongside its competitive running products. Its unusual plate architecture gives the brand a way to explore performance outside race-equipment limits, while making the intended use an essential part of the product story.

Limited pairs will be sold through PUMA.com, selected PUMA stores and selected retailers. The announced rollout includes the United States, United Kingdom, Central Europe, the Nordics, Latin America, Thailand, Japan, China and Australia.
