Arc’teryx, a brand renowned for its high-quality outdoor gear, ventured into the footwear market in 2015. This move was a natural progression for the company, which had been acquired by Salomon in 2001.
The expertise of Salomon in footwear greatly influenced Arc’teryx’s early shoe designs. The initial launch featured eight models, marking Arc’teryx’s entry into the hiking, climbing, and technical gear market.
The development of Arc’teryx‘s footwear line was significant, as it expanded the brand’s product offerings beyond its established reputation for producing premium outerwear and climbing gear. The first shoe line from Arc’teryx was designed with the same commitment to precision and innovation that the brand applies to all its product.
In Spring 2024, Arc’teryx reached a new milestone by unveiling its first footwear line fully designed in-house. This launch represented the culmination of efforts that began in 2022 when the brand started building out its own footwear-specific office in Portland, aiming for autonomy in creating footwear from the ground up.
The three-shoe lineup, released on March 6, 2024, includes designs tailored for various mountain activities, showcasing the brand’s focus on performance and design excellence.
