Wilson is treating spin as a core performance metric, not a secondary benefit.

With the new Defyer racket collection, the brand builds a franchise around maximum rotation, acceleration, and stability for players who push the modern baseline game to its limits.

Design and color/details

Defyer sits on top of Wilson’s long heritage in racket development but takes a more engineered, motorsport-inspired direction.

The frame uses a Torq Shaft construction with robust, tapered shafts that create high stability through the throat while allowing flex in the hoop. That combination aims to keep the racket stable through impact yet free enough in the upper frame to unlock power and spin on groundstrokes.

Around the head, the Airfoil Bumper introduces an aerodynamic bumper design that lowers air resistance.

The goal is simple: easier racket head acceleration and more racquet speed through contact. Si3D technology then optimizes lateral bending to help players produce heavy, repeatable spin across different Defyer models.

Visually, the all-black prototype with a single red mark has evolved into an “adrenalyn red” base that nods to Wilson’s iconic logo and gives the line a clear identity on court.

Release date, price, access

Defyer v1 targets advanced players and launches as a four-model lineup: 100, 100L, 100UL, and 98 Pro, priced from 279 to 299 USD.

The full collection is available for advance purchase starting now, with a staggered arrival for key frames.

The 98 Pro, positioned as the most anticipated and tour-focused model, lands on July 23. The 100-series frames follow from August 21, giving competitive and high-level recreational players a clear window to test and adopt before late-season play.

Wilson is rolling Defyer through its performance racket channels: direct on wilson.com and specialist retail partners, supported by @wilsontennis for visibility and education. The pricing places Defyer alongside other top-tier performance frames, reinforcing its status as a flagship line rather than an entry-level or experimental release.

Performance/tech and on-court focus

Defyer’s development began at Wilson Labs with a clear brief: build a racket that can handle the current game, where players are stronger, faster, and hitting with more spin than ever.

Early prototypes went straight into the hands of tour athletes like Karen Khachanov, Sebastian Korda, Peyton Stearns, and Arthur Fery, generating immediate positive feedback and tournament use.

The all-black test frame with a red side mark quickly drew attention across the tennis community.

The final Defyer v1 translates that feedback into specific technologies. Torq Shaft gives hitters a stable base, so off-center shots and heavy pace don’t twist the frame.

Airfoil Bumper helps players accelerate the head through contact, particularly important for those who rely on modern, vertical swing paths to produce spin.

Si3D tunes lateral flex to unlock rotation without sacrificing control. On court, that package is built for athletes who want explosive spin and power but still need a predictable response under pressure.

The pro roster around Defyer underscores its positioning. In addition to existing Wilson athletes, the line brings in Holger Rune, former world No. 4, and Moise Kouame, the youngest man to reach a third-round major in over two decades while using the Defyer prototype.

Their adoption, alongside Khachanov’s and Rune’s public praise of the frame, turns the collection into a visible choice at tour level, collegiate programs, and the junior high-performance circuit.

For players, fans, and collectors, WILSON LAUNCHES NEW DEFYER RACKET COLLECTION: ENGINEERED FOR MAXIMUM SPIN marks an inflection point in racket design.

Rather than tweaking existing frames, Wilson builds a franchise around the demands of today’s spin-heavy game, fusing motorsport-inspired engineering with tennis-specific tech.

Defyer is not just another model; it is a platform for how Wilson believes power, spin, and stability should feel in the current era of competitive tennis.
