Compare Hoka and Brooks size labels, then check the fit of the specific running shoe. A shared US number is a starting point rather than a guarantee.

Read these as label comparisons
Each row compares the same US size number within one category. These are not measured-foot-length equivalents or a guarantee that the shoes fit identically. Use the manufacturer’s measurement instructions and the product’s own chart to choose a size.
Brooks fit guidance
Brooks recommends a half to a full size above the size you wear in casual or dress shoes. That advice is about casual footwear; it does not mean you must automatically go up another size from a Hoka running shoe that already fits.
Brooks lists men’s standard width as D and women’s standard width as B, with narrow, wide and extra-wide options depending on the model. Length and width are separate choices: look for the appropriate width when the length is right but the upper feels tight.
Hoka and Brooks offer different models for different preferences. The charts cannot establish which shoe has more toe room, arch space or a better heel hold for your foot. A fitting with both models is more useful than a universal brand-size adjustment.
Check model-specific Hoka sizing
Hoka flags a women’s UK-sizing change for the Clifton 10, Arahi 8 and Challenger 8. Its all-gender conversions also vary by model. Check those notes before applying the general chart above.
Before choosing your size
Measure both feet while standing and use the longer measurement with the brand’s current chart. Try the shoes with the socks you will wear. Check that your heel is secure, your toes have space and the upper does not pinch.
