Jordan Brand is setting up hoopers for serious shift moves with the new Luka 5, a performance-driven silhouette tuned to the slow steps, sudden stops, and sharp direction changes that define Luka Dončić’s game. Designed for players who love to manipulate pace and space, the shoe blends cushioning, support, and court feel so athletes can attack from every angle with confidence.
Engineered for Luka’s Slow-Step Game
The Luka 5 keeps the core feel fans know from Luka’s signature line while layering in new tech to match the evolution of his playstyle. The model is purpose-built for the hesitations, step-backs, and crafty footwork that let Luka control the tempo against any defender.
At the heart of the shoe is a full-length Zoom Strobel unit, appearing for the first time in Luka’s signature series to give players more energy return with every move. Paired with a new ISOband system and an updated midsole, the setup aims to deliver a balance of responsiveness and control for guards and wings who thrive on change-of-pace attacks.
Cushioning, Support and 360-Degree Mobility
Underfoot, a plush CushIon 3.0 midsole teams up with Luka’s signature ISOplate to provide both comfort and lateral stability. This combination is designed to offer 360-degree control, giving hoopers the support they need when planting, cutting, or exploding into a step-back.
The new ISOband is integrated into the upper to allow powerful push-offs from any angle, essentially working like a built-in harness that keeps the foot secure as players shift directions. Meanwhile, the ISOplate functions like a supportive tendon under the foot, reinforcing quick cuts and side-to-side movements without sacrificing flexibility through the forefoot.
Court Feel, Traction and Fit
To keep players connected to the hardwood, the Luka 5 features a low-profile ride that brings the foot closer to the court for a claw-like grip. A full-length herringbone traction pattern made with HART rubber helps athletes hit the brakes instantly, whether they are pulling up for a jumper or snaking around a ball screen.
The shoe is tuned for a locked-in fit with torsional rigidity focused in key propulsion zones at the heel and forefoot, so hoopers can load up and explode without feeling wobbly or loose. The overall package is built to be flexible yet stable, giving Luka the balance he needs for his signature step-back and smooth Euro step — and offering the same advantages to players chasing that style of play.
Luka Dončić on Building His Fifth Signature Shoe
Speaking on the design process, Luka Dončić said, “Working with Jordan Brand on the Luka 5 was about making something that fits my game and keeps evolving with me,” says Luka. “The full-length Zoom Strobel and ISOband give me that extra pop and control so I can attack from any spot on the floor. Every time I lace them up, I know I’m ready to go.”
That focus on evolution shows up in every part of the shoe, from stability features to traction, making the Luka 5 a true game shoe rather than just a lifestyle spin on his on-court persona.
Venom Colorway and Release Date
The Luka 5 will debut in bold makeups that mirror Luka’s confident style, starting with the Venom colorway. This first release pairs an illusion green base with black accents for a striking look that stands out on the court as much as Luka’s bag of tricks. The Jordan Brand Luka 5 will be available January 8 on jordan.com and at select retail locations, giving hoopers a chance to step into Luka’s latest performance model just as the season intensity rises.
