Nike Book 2 Introduces a Modern Classic for On Court and Off
A modern classic for a new era
Devin Booker’s second signature shoe, the Nike Book 2, is built as a modern remix of basketball’s most timeless look, stripped back, low to the ground and tuned to work as hard in the tunnel as it does in the fourth quarter.
Designed around Devin’s love of skateboarding, vintage cars and classic Nike Sportswear, it fuses heritage cues with a clean, contemporary silhouette that feels instantly familiar yet completely fresh.
Engineered for pure court connection
From day one, Devin’s ask was simple: get closer to the court without giving up comfort. The Book 2 answers with a low-profile ride powered by a forefoot Air Zoom unit, a bouncy Cushlon 3.0 midsole and a plush foam sock liner, creating a smooth, responsive feel underfoot.
Together, these elements let players feel every cut, stop and change of pace while still getting the cushioning needed to handle long minutes.
“A big thing for me was feeling the court and being a bit lower to the ground,” says Devin.
“A lot of inspiration came from classic shoes. One that comes to mind for me is the Air Zoom Spiridon. With the early styles, I wanted to pay homage to Phoenix by starting with orange and black for the Phoenix and Rising colorways, giving fans something to rock at each game.” added Devin.
Classic Nike DNA with Phoenix details
Book 2 is a love letter to Nike’s archives and to the Arizona desert. The outsole takes cues from the Air Force 1, refreshed with a new sun‑dappled herringbone pattern that nods to Phoenix while helping hoopers stay light on their feet, pivot cleanly and reach their spots with time to spare.
Look closely and you’ll see cactus-inspired touches and tiny asterisks hand‑drawn by Devin himself, plus a lateral outrigger that widens the base for fast, side‑to‑side moves and extra stability on defense.
Two upper constructions same locked‑in feel
Devin and the design team experimented heavily with how the shoe holds the foot, especially through the midfoot. Taking inspiration from the Nike Air Zoom Spiridon, two Book 2 versions feature a lightweight webbed mesh upper that feels airy and skate‑inspired.
The other builds switch to a molded upper for a more modern, sculpted look that maintains the same locked‑in fit and trustworthy midfoot support.
“For the Book 1, we were inspired by classic cars, where the engine is supercharged and tuned up but the outside looks classic,” stated Ben Nethongkome, lead designer for Devin’s footwear.
“That approach cascaded to the Book 2, cloaking the innovation underneath. We lowered the profile of the shoe for enhanced court feel, and because we removed materials to get lower to the ground, we were able to move the Air Zoom unit from the heel to the forefoot achieving Devin’s desired feel and performance at a lighter weight.” added Ben Nethongkome.
Colorways that tell Book’s story
The Book 2 color palette pulls from Devin’s 11 seasons in the desert, his college rise and his evolution as one of the game’s smoothest scorers.
Early Phoenix and Rising colorways lean into orange and black so fans have something tailored for every home game, while future drops riff on skate, classic cars and vintage Nike sneakers to reflect different sides of his personality.
Apparel built for tunnel to street
Devin’s personal style carries over into the Book 2 apparel collection, a tight edit of eight versatile, sun‑faded pieces that celebrate basketball culture and his time in Phoenix.
He and Nike designers tested different dyes, finishes and prints across premium fabrics before landing on a desert‑weathered look that feels broken in from the first wear.
The range uses classic basketball cuts on heavyweight materials finished with laser etching for a rugged yet tailored vibe.
Standout pieces include long‑sleeve T‑shirts honoring Haven, Devin’s first Cane Corso mastiff; a raw‑edge cutoff shirt cut to his exact specs; a woven jacket and game pant set; and a brushed hoodie, short and pant that anchor off‑day and travel fits.
Release date and where to buy
Nike Book 2 footwear and apparel will be available starting January 2026 on nike.com and at select retailers worldwide.
For players and fans alike, the collection marks the next chapter in a signature line that respects the past, lives in the present and is built for whatever comes next.
