La Roche-Posay, the dermatologist-recommended global skincare and suncare leader, has extended its partnership as the Official Sunscreen of the US Open through 2029. This new, multi-year agreement reflects the brand’s deepening commitment to sun safety in sports and further strengthens La Roche-Posay’s status as an innovator in sun care, photoprotection, and public health.

Raising the Bar for Sun Protection in Tennis

Since teaming up with the USTA for the US Open in 2022, La Roche-Posay has been on a mission to educate athletes and fans about the importance of photoprotection. Tennis is one of the world’s most sun-exposed sports, with both players and spectators facing up to eight times more harmful UV exposure during lengthy outdoor matches. The stakes are high, as skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States: 1 in 5 Americans will be diagnosed by age 70, yet just 11% of people apply sunscreen daily.

“We’re incredibly proud to extend our partnership with the US Open for the next five years, a move that reflects both our ongoing commitment to photoprotection and our dedication to the sport of tennis,” said Rachelle Mladjenovic, General Manager of La Roche-Posay USA. “Whether you’re a professional athlete or a passionate fan, time in the sun comes with risks. Our goal is to make sun safety second nature, on and off the court, through education, free sunscreen distribution, and free skin checks from board-certified healthcare professionals.”

What Fans and Athletes Can Expect in 2025

On-site at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center during the 2025 US Open, fans can visit the La Roche-Posay Sun Safety Booth to access:

  • Complimentary sunscreen samples for proper application and reapplication

  • Free skin checks by board-certified healthcare providers

  • Sun safety education from expert dermatologists

  • The “Rally Against the Sun” interactive tennis game challenges visitors to take on the sun as their opponent

Sun Safety Enters the Metaverse With Roblox Activation

For the first time, La Roche-Posay is taking its sun safety mission into the gaming universe by launching an exclusive debut inside the Roblox experience, “US Open: Champions of the Court.” From August 21 to September 1, players can immerse themselves in a Club La Roche-Posay-themed zone, completing quests tied to the day’s UV Index and collecting virtual sunscreen to unlock exclusive user-generated content (UGC). This represents a fun, interactive partnership that not only educates but engages Gen Z and gamers of all ages on the power of photoprotection, mirroring the brand’s commitment to innovation in both real-world and digital spaces.

The Broader Commitment: Education, Health, and Prevention

La Roche-Posay’s ongoing programs at the US Open and across the U.S. demonstrate a relentless commitment to public health, from free on-site skin checks to wide-reaching consumer education efforts and year-round reminders about safe sun practices.

The 2025 US Open runs through September 7, with La Roche-Posay present on-site from Fan Week onward, inviting all visitors to learn about and model better sun protection habits.
