X Games and Monster Energy just announced a massive three-year partnership set to transform action sports for athletes and fans.

Unveiling a Landmark Partnership

The deal makes Monster Energy the new Official Energy Drink of X Games and a Founding Partner of the fresh X Games League (XGL).

This is the biggest sponsorship agreement between the two brands yet, signaling a major step forward for competitive skateboarding, BMX, and action sports.

Built Around Athletes’ Success

Athlete empowerment is the core of this new alliance.

Cherie Cohen, Chief Revenue Officer at X Games, explains:
“Everything we do at X Games starts with athletes. This partnership ensures that our athletes who define our culture have more opportunity, more security, and more spotlight. Monster Energy has stood beside these athletes for years, and now, as we launch the X Games League, they’re helping us build a platform that gives them year-round careers and global recognition.”

Monster Energy’s Commitment

Monster Energy’s expanded role means bigger prize purses, next-level global event experiences, and a laser focus on athlete storytelling.

Dan McHugh, Global CMO of Monster Energy, said:
“For more than a decade, Monster Energy has backed the athletes who define X Games and push progression in action sports. This new partnership builds on that legacy, giving athletes bigger stages, stronger support, and the recognition they deserve. The X Games League is the future of action sports, and athletes are the ones leading it.”

XGL (New League, New Opportunities)

Launching in 2026, X Games League will bring a pro-sports structure to action sports, starting with a multi-stop summer circuit and expanding to add a winter season in 2027.

Athletes will compete individually and as part of teams, creating breakthrough stories and new fan connections.

Founders Leading the Way

Some of action sports’ biggest names are helping shape this league from the ground up.

Nyjah Huston, XGL Founder Athlete and Monster Energy Skateboarder, shared:
“Monster Energy has supported me and so many skaters for years, not just at X Games but throughout our careers. They’ve always been about putting athletes first, and the X Games League is going to take that even further. It’s sick to see a format that gives us more opportunities to compete, tell our stories, and connect with fans all season long.”

Ryan Williams, Monster Energy BMX Freestyle Phenom and XGL Founder Athlete, added:
“Monster Energy has always been there for BMX and the athletes driving it forward. They’ve been behind the athletes pushing progression, and now with the X Games League, we finally have a platform built around us. It’s huge for BMX, huge for action sports, and I’m proud to be part of it from day one.”

Athlete-Driven Events and Stories

The Monster-X Games partnership will double down on athlete benefits and help shift from a one-off event model to a true professional sports league. Monster Energy will be deeply involved in everything from athlete drafts and media content to immersive event programming.

Shaping the Future of Action Sports

Athletes now gain more structure, earning potential, and global visibility. Monster Energy’s support marks the biggest leap in action sports in thirty years proving the future is athlete-led, with world-class brands behind it.
