Tampa Bay Lightning fans gain unprecedented access to live hockey as the team launches its first direct-to-consumer streaming service just in time for the new season.
New Streaming Era: Flexible, Affordable, and Fan-First
Debuting September 26, 2025, the Lightning’s new DTC platform—powered by ViewLift—brings all locally-carried games directly to subscribers on web, iOS, Android, Apple TV, Google TV, and Roku devices for one accessible price of $66 per season (less than a dollar a game). Early subscribers benefit from a free trial through October 7.
This innovation reflects a league-wide move toward fan-friendly solutions and marks the first time the three-time Stanley Cup Champions have introduced a team-owned streaming service. Fans can choose flexible viewing options and never miss a goal, a critical play, or the energy of live Lightning hockey—anytime, anywhere, and on their device of choice.
Executive Vision and the Future of Viewing
“Launching this new platform is about more than streaming games. It’s about reimagining how Lightning fans connect with their team,” Chris Overholt, Chief Commercial Officer at the Lightning, said. “We’re creating a direct connection that puts fans in control, giving them the flexibility to watch anytime, anywhere, on the device that they use most. This is just the beginning of how we plan to innovate and deliver an even more interactive experience to the game our fans love.”
As streaming eclipses traditional TV, the Lightning’s move speaks directly to digital-first fans and sets a new standard for NHL franchises. Subscribers will receive future fan engagement and personalization features, designed to make each viewing session more immersive and community-oriented.
A Proven Platform With Championship Credentials
ViewLift, which powers the new Lightning app, is the streaming provider of seven of the last eight Stanley Cup winners—including the Panthers, Golden Knights, and Lightning—demonstrating robust reliability and feature-rich performance for big-stage hockey. Rick Allen, CEO of ViewLift, notes, “Tampa Bay’s passionate fans can now stream all locally-carried games live, and will soon enjoy a suite of new personalized features to enhance their fan experience.”
The platform also marks a technical milestone, integrating with the Lightning’s main app and supporting simultaneous device access for fans at home or on the go.
Where to Subscribe and What to Expect
Lightning supporters can subscribe for the full 2025–26 season at TBLightning.tv and start streaming immediately. Games are also available through the team’s enhanced mobile app; details—including sign-up guides and supported devices—are available at TampaBayLightning.com/HowtoWatch.
This launch cements Tampa Bay’s commitment to accessibility, innovation, and a deeper connection with the next generation of hockey fans—making Lightning games more available, social, and affordable than ever.
