Adidas has officially launched the F50 SPARKFUSION, a football boot designed from the ground up to meet the unique anatomical and performance needs of women athletes.

Today marks a milestone in women’s football as Adidas launches the F50 SPARKFUSION, the brand’s first football boot built specifically to meet the anatomical and performance needs of female athletes, driven by the speed and agility demands of the modern women’s game.

The F50 SPARKFUSION isn’t just a tweak of a men’s boot; it’s the result of adidas’s largest-ever study into female foot anatomy and movement. For over a decade, the adidas Innovation team gathered and analyzed extensive foot scan data from women footballers at all levels, supplementing this with new scans and in-depth feedback from current stars and partner teams. This included direct input from elite players such as Trinity Rodman, Linda Caicedo, Jule Brand, Vicky Lopez, and teams like Arsenal Women, Real Madrid Femenino, and OL Lyon.

The research was sparked by reports that most women players have experienced discomfort with unisex boots at some point in their careers—a problem adidas set out to solve. Match data insights, which highlighted the increasing speed and agility of the women’s game, were also key in shaping the final design.

Engineered for the Female Foot

Adidas’ analysis revealed that women’s feet typically feature a narrower heel, higher arches, and more volume around the midfoot. The F50 SPARKFUSION addresses these differences with several innovations:

• FUSIONLAST: A bespoke last that improves fit in the heel, midfoot, and forefoot, delivering better lockdown, increased comfort, and support for rapid changes of direction.

• FUSIONSOLE SOCKLINER: This new sockliner enhances arch support and comfort, especially through the midfoot, while an updated heel structure and external heel counter boost stability and lockdown for narrower heels.

• SPRINTFRAME FUSION FG/AG: A brand-new soleplate designed for both natural and artificial grass, featuring semi-conical studs for easier rotation, a central PIVOT STUD for explosive turns, and an extra fourth stud on the outer side for even pressure distribution.
