Leica Launches Urban Green ZM 1 and ZM 2 Watches for 2025

Leica unveils its latest ZM 1 and ZM 2 Urban Green watches, combining classic precision engineering with a bold design inspired by nature and city life. Today, Leica Camera AG announced the launch of its latest watch series: the Leica ZM 1 Urban Green and the Leica ZM 2 Urban Green. These new timepieces exemplify the seamless integration of traditional Leica craftsmanship with forward-thinking innovation in the watch industry, resulting in watches that "make a statement about nature's elegance in form and function.

Nature-Inspired Minimalism

"Nature forms the foundation of functional design and inspires harmony in every detail," Leica states. The ZM 1 and ZM 2 Urban Green models showcase this philosophy through minimalist aesthetics and refined details. Each watch features a distinctive fumé noir dial, presenting a rich gradient from green to black. This is paired with a sophisticated stainless-steel Milanaise strap, further enhancing their urban yet natural appeal.

The watches are crafted with domed sapphire glass, finely blasted surfaces, and a high-strength aluminum dial adorned with thin parallel grooves known as satinage vertical. The rhodium-plated, diamond-cut indices and hands complete the look, reflecting the refined Made in Germany craftsmanship that Leica is renowned for.

Superior Craftsmanship in Every Detail

The stainless-steel Milanaise strap is a highlight of the new Urban Green models. As Leica stated in the press release, the strap is "handcrafted with precision, featuring a solid, full satin finish, and bearing the original Leica engraving, the watch strap's mesh-like material embraces every wrist, perfectly setting the tone for the new timepieces."

The company also emphasizes the comfort and versatility provided by the "integrated, adjustable deployant buckle and quick-change spring bars on both sides," which exemplify "meticulous craftsmanship and precision engineering."

Innovative Features, Iconic Heritage

First introduced in February 2022, the Leica ZM watch series includes two models, each distinguished by a unique design language and innovative approaches to traditional timekeeping. According to the official press release from Leica Camera AG, the patented push-crown, an innovation inspired by the shutter release on Leica cameras, “halts the movement with a single press, resets the second hand to zero, and introduces an innovative approach to time-setting in the watch industry.”

Leica further explains that this feature “reimagines a function common to all watch brands in a distinctive way, making the ZM 1 and ZM 2 unmistakably Leica.”

The Leica ZM 2 also offers a GMT function, allowing wearers to track two time zones with a single set of hands, complemented by a day/night indicator for effortless readability. Both models are equipped with a mechanical hand-wound movement developed by Leica and are now available in the new Urban Green style.
