Nike Portland opens its doors once again with a renewed focus on sport, innovation and community.
A Downtown Revival in the Brand’s Hometown
Nike’s newly renovated Portland store celebrates a homecoming in the heart of downtown. Set inside the historic Kress Building, the refreshed location serves as a hub for athletes, creators and community members alike.
Closed since late 2023, the space now reemerges as a destination bringing together Nike’s premium products and an elevated in-store experience.
From running and training to sportswear and local collegiate gear, Nike Portland honors the brand’s six-decade legacy in its home state of Oregon.
Designed Around the Athlete
“Nike is committed to elevating retail around the world, centered around athletes and sport,” states Craig Williams, EVP, Chief Commercial Officer, NIKE. “Nike Portland is a great example of that commitment, infusing hyperlocal relevance and spotlighting the best innovations from our brands.”
The store’s layout immerses visitors in the Nike world from the moment they enter through a tunnel-like entrance. Eye-catching displays introduce Nike’s latest seasonal storytelling, led by the Vomero 18 GORE-TEX launch.
Immersive Spaces for Every Athlete
At the center of the store lies a rotunda dedicated to running footwear and performance innovation. Surrounding areas feature men’s and women’s apparel, Jordan Brand products and basketball-inspired collections.
The kids’ section and local collegiate gear area complete the circle, with each space designed as a dedicated “world of sport.”
Every corner of Nike Portland is curated to offer head-to-toe shopping experiences that reflect how real athletes explore and engage with sport.
Innovation on a Global Stage
Nike Portland’s reopening aligns with the brand’s global commitment to creating immersive, storytelling-led retail spaces. The concept connects with recent store transformations around the world, including:
- Nike Harajuku in Tokyo, offering full-motion running analysis through NSRL Form.
- Nike Oxford Circus in London, a “temporary flagship” serving the running community during NikeTown’s renovation.
- Jordan Brand’s World of Flight in Philadelphia, designed to celebrate basketball culture.
Each location reinforces Nike’s vision of designing retail experiences that inspire and empower athletes around the world.
Deep Roots in the Portland Community
Nike’s impact in Portland extends beyond retail innovation. The company contributed over 13 million dollars to local nonprofit organizations in 2024 and employees devoted nearly 40,000 volunteer hours to community service.
Through the Nike Community Ambassador program, store employees serve as youth coaches, promoting sport participation across Portland neighborhoods.
Opening Celebration and Events
Nike Portland officially reopens November 13 at 638 S.W. Fifth Avenue. To mark the occasion, a public ceremony will be held on opening day, followed by community events on November 14 and 15.
A New Chapter for Nike Portland
As doors reopen, Nike Portland reaffirms the brand’s long-standing connection to its hometown. The store blends local heritage with global innovation, inviting every visitor to experience sport as something that inspires, unites and moves the community forward.
