PrimaLoft is tightening its commercial focus with a leadership reset. The company is naming Eric Weis as president of the insulation specialist as former CEO Anne Cavassa steps down. Meanwhile, parent company Compass Diversified (CODI) is pairing the move with an expanded board role for Shawn Neville, CEO of BOA Technology. He now becomes chairman of PrimaLoft.
New President with BOA Pedigree
Weis joins PrimaLoft after 15 years at BOA Technology. There he most recently served as global chief commercial and marketing officer. During his tenure, BOA more than tripled its revenue. In addition, Weis played a key role across product development, commercial management, and marketing.
In CODI’s announcement, Zach Sawtelle, partner and COO at Compass Group Management, said “[Weis] is a proven leader with deep commercial experience in the outdoor and performance markets… Additionally, Shawn’s expanded role as chairman of the board brings 25-plus years of strategic and operational leadership experience. We believe this positions PrimaLoft to build an even stronger future.”
From Product Pipeline to Commercial Push
Cavassa leaves after a period in which PrimaLoft strengthened its product pipeline and internal organization, according to CODI. With that groundwork in place, elevating a commercially minded president suggests a shift from primarily innovation led momentum toward more aggressive market expansion, brand partnerships, and category penetration.
Neville’s move into the chairman role brings more than 25 years of strategic and operational experience from the footwear and performance space. This effectively ties PrimaLoft’s board closer to one of its key innovation partners.
How PrimaLoft is Positioned Today
PrimaLoft describes itself as a global leader in high performance, sustainable insulation and fabrics. Its products were originally developed for the U.S. Army as a water resistant synthetic alternative to down. Today, its technologies are used by more than 950 brands. These include outdoor, athletic, lifestyle, home furnishings, workwear, hunting, and military applications.
The company is headquartered in Latham, New York, with an additional office in Xiamen, China. It operates as a fully owned subsidiary of Compass Diversified.
Why This Matters
The leadership change is meaningful because PrimaLoft sits at the center of the insulation innovation stack for many performance and lifestyle lines, from technical boots to city ready outerwear. A president with a BOA style commercial lens is likely to push for deeper integration with brands, clearer consumer storytelling around warmth and sustainability, and potentially more visible ingredient branding on products.
As Weis put it, “I am honored and excited to be joining PrimaLoft, a global leader in creating innovative high performance sustainable thermo-regulating insulation solutions… I am a passionate outdoor enthusiast and a big fan of the brand and products, and look forward to working alongside the team to elevate PrimaLoft ever further into the future.”
