Salomon, the French performance and lifestyle brand known for its fusion of outdoor innovation and urban style, has officially opened its first California store at 8620 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood.
This new location marks Salomon’s fourth U.S. retail store and its first on the West Coast. It further cements the brand’s growing influence in both sportstyle and outdoor culture.
Rooted in Movement, Inspired by Los Angeles
Founded in 1947 in Annecy, France, Salomon built its reputation through mountain sports innovation. The brand crafted pioneering skis and bindings that reshaped alpine performance.
Over the past decade, the brand has successfully evolved beyond the slopes. Its trail and performance sneakers, such as the XT-6 and XT-4, have become streetwear icons. They are embraced by global fashion and sneaker communities.
“Opening our first California store in West Hollywood marks a significant moment for Salomon,” said Jenny Taylor, Salomon’s Vice President of Marketing for North America. “It’s not only a milestone in our U.S. growth but a deeper commitment to a city that thrives on culture, creativity, and reinvention.”
The choice of Los Angeles, a city synonymous with movement and creative energy, underscores Salomon’s mission to connect performance-driven innovation with expressive, fashion-forward communities.
More Than a Store: A Gathering Point for Los Angeles
The 1,900-square-foot West Hollywood boutique is designed as more than a retail store. It’s a community hub for movement, exploration, and connection.
The space highlights Salomon’s Sportstyle category, showcasing a seamless blend of technical performance and contemporary fashion. Customers can explore the complete range of Salomon footwear, outerwear, and limited-edition releases. They can engage with like-minded athletes, creators, and adventurers.
“We envision this space as more than a store, it’s a gathering point for the LA community, where people can connect, create, and explore together,” said Taylor.
The brand previewed this vision with a pre-launch pop-up at Skylight Row DTLA. It featured a multisensory gallery installation that celebrated the XT-6 silhouette’s cultural influence in both performance and design.
Building on Coast-to-Coast Success
The West Hollywood store continues Salomon’s rapid U.S. retail expansion. It follows successful openings in New York City’s SoHo, Chicago’s Bucktown, and Woodbury Common Premium Outlets.
A Williamsburg, Brooklyn location is set to open next, completing four major store launches in 2025.
This retail growth strengthens Salomon’s role as a leader in both performance gear and lifestyle fashion, giving customers hands-on access to the brand’s full innovation and heritage.
Each store is built as an immersive brand experience. It allows runners, stylists, and creatives alike to discover and interact with Salomon products in a setting that celebrates individuality and movement.
Los Angeles: Where Outdoor Adventure Meets Urban Energy
Los Angeles provides the ideal backdrop for Salomon’s hybrid identity. It is a place where mountain trails, beaches, and fashion intersect.
The Melrose Avenue store connects LA’s sneakerheads, athletes, and outdoor lovers to Salomon’s latest innovations. It offers performance-ready shoes that look as good downtown as they perform on a trail.
With dedicated community programming, the flagship will host events, art collaborations, and product launches, embodying Salomon’s belief that performance and self-expression go hand in hand.
Salomon’s Vision for the Future
Salomon’s growing brick-and-mortar presence is part of its broader vision. It aims to build local communities around movement, art, and exploration.
Each new store acts as a cultural anchor, offering everything from group runs and exhibitions to grassroots collaborations with local creators.
“We want every Salomon store, especially in cities like LA, to feel like a home base for explorers, creators, and street style leaders,” said Taylor. “Los Angeles has always been a global hub for movement and expression, values at the heart of who we are.”
This human-centered retail strategy reflects Salomon’s mission. It seeks to unite outdoor performance, cultural relevance, and community engagement under one roof.
