Nike is writing the next chapter of Devin Booker’s signature story with the Book 2 collection. This collection is built as a low-profile, high-performance line inspired by skateboarding, vintage cars, and classic Nike sneakers. Set to release January 2, 2026, the collection keeps the focus on feel and craft. It features a sleeker silhouette for the shoe and sun-faded, desert-ready sportswear that traces Booker’s career in Phoenix.
What’s new in the Book 2 shoe
Book 2 is designed to get Booker “as close to the court as possible” while staying cushioned. It uses a forefoot Air Zoom unit, Cushlon 3.0 midsole, and a plush foam sockliner for a responsive but grounded ride. Lead designer Ben Nethongkome said that “For the Book 1, we were inspired by classic cars, where the engine is supercharged and tuned up but the outside looks classic… That approach cascaded to the Book 2, cloaking the innovation underneath. We lowered the profile of the shoe for enhanced court feel, and because we removed materials to get lower to the ground, we were able to move the Air Zoom unit from the heel to the forefoot — achieving Devin’s desired feel and performance at a lighter weight.”
Spiridon and Air Force 1 DNA
As a “student of basketball,” Booker pointed to the Nike Air Zoom Spiridon as a key reference. This inspiration led to two Book 2 models with a lightweight webbed mesh upper. Other models feature a new molded upper that keeps a similar locked-in fit. The outsole borrows from the Air Force 1, reworked with a sun-dappled herringbone traction pattern. This design nods to Phoenix while helping players pivot, stop, and start quickly. Cactus-inspired details, hand-drawn asterisks, and a lateral outrigger widen the base for side‑to‑side stability.
Colorways tied to Phoenix
Early styles include Phoenix and Rising colorways in orange and black. These are Booker said, “A lot of inspiration came from classic shoes. One that comes to mind for me is the Air Zoom Spiridon. With the early styles, I wanted to pay homage to Phoenix by starting with orange and black for the Phoenix and Rising colorways, giving fans something to rock at each game.”
Additional schemes draw on Booker’s 11 seasons in the Arizona desert and his collegiate run. These designs position the Book 2 as a running log of his personal and professional journey rather than a single-season drop.
Apparel: sun-faded desert tunnel style
The Book 2 line spans eight pieces, from long-sleeve tees and a raw‑edge cutoff shirt to a woven jacket, game pant, hoodie, shorts, and pants, all cut from premium heavyweight fabrics finished with laser etching for a rugged but tailored feel. Designers and Booker experimented with dyes, finishes, and prints to land on a sun-faded treatment that reflects desert light and aims to move seamlessly from the stadium tunnel to the street.
