Jordan Brand is doubling down on the women’s game with the Heir Series 2, a new basketball silhouette engineered around the speed, intensity, and creativity that define modern women’s basketball. Launching globally on February 20 on jordan.com and at select retailers, the shoe is designed “for her and anyone who sets foot on the court,” expanding the brand’s vision for the next generation of hoopers.

A Performance Shoe Built Around The Women’s Game

The Heir Series 2 is crafted from performance insights gathered from bold, defiant athletes across levels, with a sharp focus on quick cuts, shifts, and up tempo play. The silhouette builds on the original Heir Series emphasis on running and cutting, two of the most critical movement patterns in the women’s game, while layering in new tech that enables even more quickness in every step.

Engineered for the realities of women’s basketball, more court time, more possessions, and more overall movement, the shoe is tuned to help players maintain intensity deep into the game. In doing so, it reinforces Jordan Brand’s commitment to crafting performance solutions for the women’s game, not just for it.

Zoom Air And Cushlon 3.0 For Speed And Comfort

At the core of the update is a new forefoot Air Zoom unit, added to deliver standout responsiveness for a game defined by agile, shifty play and frequent changes of direction. The Zoom Air platform is paired with a thicker drop in Cushlon 3.0 midsole, wrapped in an extra layer of foam above the outsole, creating a plush yet stable ride.

This combination of Zoom Air and enhanced cushioning is designed to offer ample support while still allowing flexibility for sharp cuts and explosive first steps. A translucent TPU cage provides lightweight containment around the foot, and a rubber herringbone traction pattern underfoot is tuned for greater quickness and control on the hardwood.

Hoopers’ Feedback At The Center

The Heir Series 2 was developed directly from insights shared by hoopers, ensuring it leverages the best of NIKE, Inc. innovation in service of female athletes. The goal was to create a shoe that feels fast and secure but also resilient enough to handle the higher tempo and volume of the women’s game.

Napheesa Collier, Jordan Brand athlete and five time WNBA All Star, said, “With my footwork being an important part of my game, the Heir Series 2 is a performance shoe that provides the flexibility and stability for me to be a force on both ends of the floor…Everyone who follows my game knows I was a fan of the Heir Series, but the innovation in the Heir Series 2 has exceeded my expectations.”

Design Details

Beyond performance, the Heir Series 2 includes thoughtful nods to the women’s game and its culture. A removable hair tie attached to the heel offers a practical, instantly recognizable detail, acknowledging an everyday accessory for many players and turning it into a built in design feature.

The shoe is also set to release in a series of bold colorways that reflect female athletes’ leading role in shaping the future of basketball culture, on and off the court. The sleek silhouette refines its predecessor’s lines, keeping a fast, streamlined profile that mirrors the rhythm and pace of today’s women’s basketball.

Extending A Longstanding Commitment To Women’s Basketball

First introduced in 2024, the Heir Series continues Jordan Brand’s broader history of innovating with women front and center, a legacy that dates back to the 1998 women’s Air Jordan OG, the brand’s first model created exclusively for women. Since then, the portfolio has included signature and special makeup shoes for stars like Maya Moore, Player Editions co created with athletes such as Kiki Rice and Kia Nurse, and retail models tuned to the female athlete.

“Women’s basketball has a very important place in the sports landscape, and Jordan Brand is committed to helping the next generation of hoopers reach their greatness. We titled this series of footwear ‘Heir’ knowing that these amazing athletes are next up — here to claim the basketball throne as their own,Leo Chang, Senior Creative Director, Jordan Brand Basketball and Sport, said. He added that “The Heir Series 2 is the next iteration of the basketball sneaker designed for her, by her. The new forefoot Air Zoom unit enables even more support and responsiveness, tailored to the beautiful playing style of the women’s game.”
