An icon of track and field closes her professional chapter celebrated by Nike and the world—for speed and inspiration and a legacy that will shape generations to come.
The Greatest 100-Meter Sprinter of All Time
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce—three-time Olympic gold medalist, ten-time World Champion, and the most decorated 100-meter sprinter in history—has completed her final professional race at the World Championships in Tokyo. A Nike athlete since 2008, Fraser-Pryce has been at the center of the brand’s efforts to advance track and field, empower young athletes, and promote excellence both on and off the track.
Over her 20-year professional career, Fraser-Pryce has become a global icon, helping turn Jamaica into an international sprinting powerhouse. Her achievements include the first 100m Olympic gold medal for a Caribbean woman, a record five world 100m crowns, and seven national championships. Even more, Fraser-Pryce holds the record for the most sub-11-second 100m finishes in history—an astonishing 86.
Partnership With Nike Leaves a Lasting Impact
Her influence on sport goes far beyond medals. As Nike celebrated, Tanya Hvizdak, VP, Global Sports Marketing for Nike, said:
“In her two decades as a professional athlete, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce hasn’t just dominated the track, she’s transformed it. Shelly-Ann is one of the most legendary sprinters the world has ever seen, breaking records, shattering barriers and redefining what it means to be a champion. It’s been an honor to watch her inspire generations of athletes to chase greatness as boldly as she has.”
Nike also emphasized its longstanding partnership:
“As a brand, it’s our privilege to have been part of Shelly-Ann’s career for over 17 years and to continue working together as she furthers her legacy in retirement. Her accolades are unmatched, but her impact as a mother, role model and relentless competitor transcends sport.”
Through her Pocket Rocket Foundation, Fraser-Pryce has worked closely with Nike to drive community development and educational support for Jamaican youth. As a founding member of Nike’s Athlete Think Tank, she continues to help shape how Nike champions, listens to, and supports female athletes at every level.
Authentic Reflections at the Finish Line
After running her final 100m at the Tokyo World Championships, Fraser-Pryce told the press:
“Tonight I am really grateful that I was able to stand on the track one more time in the 100m finals. It has been such a privilege, an honour, and my greatest blessing to stand here tonight. I came into this championship with so many odds, but I made the final. And I think that is a huge accomplishment. I remember in 2007 when I started, I was unsure what I wanted to do, but I walked away with so much from the championship.”
On her final race in Kingston’s National Stadium Fraser-Pryce added:
“Honestly, it’s one of those moments that I’m looking forward to… because I have absolutely nothing to lose and all to gain.”
And reflecting on her partnership with Nike at a special celebration, Fraser-Pryce said:
“Nike has been more than a sponsor—they’ve been a partner in every sense of the word. Together, we’ve pushed boundaries, challenged expectations, and created a legacy I’m so proud of. This celebration is not just for me—it’s for every Jamaican who saw themselves in my journey. It’s a thank you to my country, my family, and every young girl who dares to dream.”
Beyond the Track and Into the Future
Fraser-Pryce is set to continue her impact through both her foundation and her work as a Nike ambassador and innovator, helping create future generations of champions through advocacy, education, and product innovation.
Her competitive fire may be leaving the track, but her legacy endures—at Nike, in Jamaica, and for every athlete worldwide who dared to dream.
