Shura Links has officially opened as Saudi Arabia’s first island golf course, blending world-class design with coastal luxury and a regenerative approach to sustainable tourism directly on the pristine shores of Shura Island in the Red Sea.
Defining a Landmark for Golf and Tourism
Created by architect Brian Curley and managed by Golf Saudi, Shura Links is a par-72, 7,400-yard championship course shaped for both seasoned professionals and passionate amateurs. The design honors natural sand dunes, native mangroves, and shimmering Red Sea coastlines, with minimal environmental interference—a direct reflection of Red Sea Global’s (RSG) regenerative tourism values and Saudi Vision 2030 goals. Only 70 acres of grass is irrigated, utilizing drought-resistant turf and desert landscaping to reduce water and energy usage.
What Golfers Can Expect at Shura Links
-
Challenging yet inviting play, with fairways framed by white dunes and open approaches for creative play—especially in the signature sea breeze.
-
Standout holes include par-3s aimed right at the Red Sea and a driveable par-4 for late-round excitement.
-
The “find your ball” philosophy, with wide, open spaces that speed up play and maximize enjoyment for advanced and beginner golfers alike.
-
State-of-the-art amenities: expansive practice areas, a family putting course, and a beachfront clubhouse with panoramic water views, dining, retail, and PGA pro coaching.
-
Tailored green fee options for 9- or 18-hole rounds and premium equipment like Callaway practice balls available to all.
The Social Heart of the Red Sea
The clubhouse forms a social anchor—offering not just spectacular vistas over the eighteenth green but also relaxation, top-tier dining, and a curated retail boutique featuring Shura Links merchandise and leading golf brands. Families, groups, and solo travelers can take lessons, enjoy the adventure putting course, or simply relax in the luxury setting.
Part of a New Mega-Destination
Shura Island, the centerpiece of Red Sea Global’s destination plan, will soon host 11 luxury hotels and exclusive residences, including SLS, EDITION, InterContinental, Four Seasons, and Grand Hyatt properties—all supported by a 3.3km bridge and the Red Sea International Airport for easy international access. The destination combines miles of lagoon, wildlife, “Coral Bloom” architecture, and nature-first development, aligning with NEOM and other projects in Saudi Arabia’s effort to redefine its global tourism appeal.
Vision, Access, and Inspiration
For guests and investors, Shura Links showcases the Kingdom’s ambitions in hospitality, recreation, and sustainability. “Shura Links is more than a world-class course—it’s a powerful realization of how this unique destination can be transformed into an engine for investment, luxury tourism, and sustainable opportunities for future generations,” said H.E. Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Chairman of Golf Saudi.
Phase one is now welcoming golfers and guests, with resorts, homes, and new air connectivity set for rapid expansion. From world-class golf and amenities to a low-impact, nature-driven design, Shura Links is set to make waves in both the sport and global travel communities.
